Phuket
activities are available for both young and old tourists. The
activities on Phuket vary greatly and range from white water rafting
to the entertaining ladyboy shows at Simon
Cabaret.
Another great Phuket attraction involving
a show is the Phuket Fantasea.
We should ofcourse not forget the most favorite activity in Phuket
which is spending a relaxing and enjoyable time on one of the tropical
beaches of Phuket.
The Phuket guide has compiled information on all the main activities

Family Activities
|
There are a number of great Phuket family activities and attractions
found on the island. Why not take the kids to the Phuket
Aquarium and let them learn more about the local environment
and the sea that they enjoy swimming in.
The show at Phuket Fantasea is really rather impressive and very
entertaining to watch. The Phuket
Fantasea is located in Kamala
and tickets and transport can be arranged by nearly every hotel
on the island.
You might want to check around at some of the smaller travel agents
near your hotel as their prices for day tours and activities are
sometimes cheaper then those found at the hotel. Phuket fantasea
is worth every penny and it certainly is the best Phuket familiy
attraction.
Simon Cabaret does sound a bit
strange as a suggestion for Phuket family activities however it
really is all rather innocent at Simon Cabaret. The drag shows hosted
at the Simon Cabaret are well organized and the shows are rather
spectacular. At no time is there any form of explicit act being
shown and the shows are very artistic and we are sure your kids
will have a great time at Patong based Simon
Cabaret.
Phuket golf clubs have become a very popular
attraction for tourists. Phuket is considered to be one of the premier
golf destinations in Asia due to the excellent golf courses that
can be found on Phuket.
There are a number of world class Phuket golf courses for you to
enjoy and we have listed these Phuket golf clubs with detailed information
in our Phuket golf guide. Find the latest Phuket
golf information in our guide on on Phuket
golf clubs. Read More...

Yachting
|
Phuket
is a natural base for sailing. This Singapore-sized island is packed
with accommodation facilities and yachting services for all kinds.
There are scores of uninhabited islands to explore and despite the
many attractions, the Andaman Sea has yet to become congested with
boat traffic.
The Andaman Sea has very good weather conditions all year and is
comparable to any region in the world in this respect. The long
northeast monsoon season from November to May creates the best climate
for sailing, with the best winds from November to February.

Liveaboards
|
Phuket Liveaboards are basically ships on which divers sleep during
a diving trip. Phuket liveaboards take divers to spectacular dive
spots throughout the Andaman sea. One of the main Phuket Liveaboard
destinations are the Similan Islands and the legendary Phi Phi Islands.
The Phi Phi
Islands became famous around the world due to a movie that was
shot there which was called the Beach and starred Leonardo Di Caprio.
The Phi Phi Islands were struck hard by the Tsunami which occured
on Boxing Day 2004.
Many of the Phi
Phi islands hotels were washed away and the coral reef was severely
damaged. Unfortuntely many tourists staying on the Phi Phi Islands
were unable to escape from the lethal waves of the Tsunumai.
The local expat diving community with assistance of some Thai divers
were the ones that lead the cleaning operation that turned Phi Phi
back to it's proper state. You can find more about Phuket
diving in our Phuket dive section.

Trekking
|
Phuket
Island still has one sizable tract of virgin rain forest, as well
as lots more secondary tropical forest growth.
On the neighboring mainland, Khao Sok National Park offers extensive
forests, rivers, an enormous lake, caves and fascinating flora and
fauna, including a few wild tigers that still inhabit the more remote
areas.
Jungle trekking makes an excellent option in the summer season
from May to October, when the forests are at their greenest.

Camping
- Sirinat National Park
|
Camping
is permitted on both Mai Khao and Nai Yang beaches in the Sirinat
National Park. They are the longest beaches on Phuket and are quiet
and serene, apart from the occassional landings and take offs at
the nearby Phuket airport. The beaches are located on the northwest
part of Phuket. The Park's Visitor's Center, located near the south
end of Mai Khao, rents tents and provides some minimal facilities
for campers. There are also some inexpensive bungalows for rent
on Nai Yang.

Khao
Phra Thaeo Wildlife Park
|
With
much of the island given over to tourism development, there are
few places left on Phuket for trekking. The only remaining patch
of virgin jungle, Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Park, is home to rare
wild animals, such as langurs, porcupines, and macaques, which would
become extinct in fast-growing Phuket but for this nature conservation
area.
The park offers the best trekking in Phuket with a well preserved
natural environment. May through October is the best time for jungle
trekking, when the forest is full of blossoms. The park has a marked
hiking route for visitors to follow.
